WENK Pneumatic MHS2/3/4 Pneumatic Gripper(Parallel Type)

The MHS2/3/4 series represents a versatile range of parallel opening/closing pneumatic grippers designed for precision automation applications. Featuring a innovative wedge cam design, these grippers deliver exceptional performance with minimal size, offering high holding force while maintaining compact dimensions. Available in 2-finger (MHS2), 3-finger (MHS3), and 4-finger (MHS4) configurations, this series accommodates diverse workpiece shapes and sizes.

With bore sizes ranging from 16mm to 125mm and repeatability of ±0.01mm, the MHS series ensures precise and consistent gripping action. The double-acting design provides reliable operation with gripping forces up to 1270N (for MHS3-125D). The integrated slide guide mechanism eliminates lateral vibration during operation, enhancing stability and accuracy.

Ideal for handling cylindrical, spherical, or irregularly shaped workpieces, these grippers find applications in assembly lines, machine tending, and material handling systems. Optional dust covers and through-hole designs extend versatility for specialized environments. The MHS2/3/4 series combines robust construction with high performance, making it an excellent choice for demanding industrial automation needs.

    Installation Steps

    1. Confirm installation location and space requirements

      • Ensure mounting surface is flat and sufficiently strong
      • Reserve appropriate space for piping and wiring
      • Confirm required installation space based on model
    2. Secure the gripper body

      • Use suitable screws to fix the gripper to the mounting surface
      • Select appropriate mounting screw specifications based on different bore sizes
      • Ensure secure installation to avoid precision issues due to looseness
    3. Install fingers and accessories

      • Install appropriate fingers or fixtures according to application requirements
      • Fix fingers using finger mounting threaded holes
      • Ensure fingers are installed parallel and symmetrically (2-finger) or evenly distributed (3-finger, 4-finger)
    4. Piping connection

      • Confirm the opening and closing direction of the gripper
      • Connect to air ports using suitable air tubes and fittings
      • Ensure piping is properly sealed without leaks
    5. Magnetic switch installation (optional)

      • Install magnetic switches if position detection is required
      • Adjust switch position to accurately detect finger position

    Operation Guide

    1. Pre-start checks

      • Confirm air supply pressure is within specified range
      • Check piping connections for correctness
      • Ensure operating environment temperature is within allowable range
      • Verify proper installation of fingers and fixtures
    2. Basic operation

      • Control the opening and closing of fingers by controlling the supply and exhaust of compressed air
      • Finger opening: Compressed air enters from the "open port"
      • Finger closing: Compressed air enters from the "close port"
      • 3-finger and 4-finger models achieve synchronized movement through a rack-and-pinion mechanism
    3. Gripping force adjustment

      • Adjust gripping force by regulating working air pressure
      • Higher air pressure results in greater gripping force
      • Select appropriate gripping force based on workpiece weight and material
      • Ensure gripping force is sufficient to prevent workpiece slippage but not excessive to cause deformation
    4. Stroke adjustment

      • Choose appropriate stroke length as needed
      • Ensure workpiece is stably clamped throughout the entire stroke range
      • Note the maximum stroke limitations for different bore sizes

    Maintenance

    1. Daily inspection

      • Check for piping leaks
      • Confirm smooth operation of the gripper
      • Inspect fingers and fixtures for wear or damage
      • Verify proper operation of magnetic switches (if installed)
    2. Regular maintenance

      • Every 3 months:
        • Clean the exterior of the gripper
        • Check for loose mounting screws
        • Inspect wear on fingers and fixtures
      • Every 6 months:
        • Replace grease
        • Check the working status of magnetic switches
        • Perform comprehensive functional testing
      • Annually:
        • Inspect seal condition
        • Replace worn components
    3. Lubrication

      • The MHS series is designed for maintenance-free operation and typically does not require additional lubrication
      • For long-term use or in harsh environments, an appropriate amount of lubricating oil may be added as needed
      • Use the recommended lubricating oil type and avoid incompatible lubricants
